They work hard and let's face it, are often underappreciated. However, there is a simple way to change that – employee gift giving. There's no reason employers shouldn't show their gratitude by buying gifts for their employees, as long as it is kept professional. To avoid gift giving faux pas in the workplace, there are some things you should remember.
First of all, when giving a gift, do not be tempted to play favourites. All gifts should be similar in value to avoid conflict. Gifts like flowers and chocolates are generic enough to use for different occasions, and are guaranteed to be enjoyed by almost everyone.
Try not to give a different gift to every employee. Keeping them similar in nature is a good idea as a personal gift for one person means personalization for everyone else as a means of keeping things fair.
Remember that it is not necessary for all gifts to be work-related. Do not make your employees feel obliged to keep their gift sitting on their desks. Flowers are an ideal gift as they brighten up the atmosphere and generally make people feel better. Vibrant colours are mood enhancers, so flowers will be greatly appreciated.
When an employee gets married or has a baby, congratulations are definitely in order. Why not send an attractive gift basket or hamper to show your support? Employees who are under the weather could be cheered in an instant with a generous fruit basket and floral arrangement.
Whatever the occasion, do not be afraid to let your employees know that you appreciate all their efforts, and the best way to do that is simply with a gift. by: Victoria Barker comments powered by Disqus |
